Printers (old): Add printer on an UU PC
Are you an employee and have you never used the central multifunctional printers or you want to add another printer? This requires a one-time installation. Below, you will see how to do this.
This guide is created for the Multifunctional Printers, we assume you want to be able to print in both colour and black and white. You can choose to leave out one printer (skip the last steps).
If you want to add another printer such as HP, follow steps 1 to 4 and read the tips!
Click on the start menu in the lower left corner. You can start typing immediately, a textbox will appear. Type in:
and press Enter.
If you want to add another printer than a Xerox MultiFunctional, replace the previous step 1 by the step described here:
Look for the uu number on the printer that you want to add (it is on a gray sticker on the printer).
(The uu number consists of UU followed by 6 digits).
Fill in the screen of step 1:
\\WP0100\UU000000 (replace the 6 zeros with the numbers on the printer you want to add) en press enter.
Continue with step 2
The printer is being installed. This can take several minutes.
When the printer has been installed successfully, the print queue window will appear. You can close it immediately.
Now we will install the colour printers. Similar to step 1, type in the start menu:
and press Enter.
Please note! Colour is written using British spelling, not like the American Color.
The printer is being installed. This can again take several minutes.
When the printer has been installed successfully, the print queue screen will appear. You can close it immediately.
You are now finished: the printers have been installed.
If you now want to print a Word document, go to File (1) at the top, and then Print (2). Then choose whether you want to print in colour or black and white under Printer (3).
In the green field (4) below it, you can adjust the default settings. For instance, you can indicate that you want every print job to be stapled.
Do you want to set a certain configuration as default? Such as:
- Setting the colour or black and white printer as default
- Stapled or not
- Double-sided or one-sided
Then follow the steps below. You can close the section at any time by closing the window.
Click on the start button, and click on Devices and Printers.
The default printer is marked with a green checkmark.
If you want to change the default printer, right-click on the printer you want to set as default and choose ‘Set as default printer’.
The checkmark will now be on this printer.
To change the other default settings of the printer(s), double-click the printer (Black or Colour) of choice.
Double-click on Adjust print options.
You will now see a window where you can adjust the settings. These are saved and remembered for all future print jobs.
Under Finishing, you can set whether you want to use staples by default. Above that, you can set whether you want to print one-sided or double-sided.
Under the other tabs, you can adjust more settings.
Always confirm your settings afterwards by pressing the OK button.
Note: if you want this to apply for the other printer as well, repeat the last steps for the other printer.
Do you want to print to a PDF file?
Step 2 – When the installation is completed, select the printer “Adobe PDF” from the application of your choice (for example Word):
