Lecture rooms UU: linking lecture rooms via Teams

Only students are present in this room The lecturer can be seen through teams. To link two rooms, it is necessary to have a student log in to room 2. If students want to ask questions in this viewing room, a student in that room will need to make sure the microphone is on. It is not possible to turn on the microphone of the viewing room remotely.

The following situation applies:

Room 1

  • The lecturer lectures in this room
  • The students in room 1 are in view via teams

Hall 2

  • Only students are present in this room
  • The lecturer can be seen through teams.

To link two rooms, it is necessary to have a student log in to room 2. If students want to ask questions in this viewing room, a student in that room will need to make sure the microphone is on. It is not possible to turn on the microphone of the viewing room remotely.

  • Room 1 – lecture hall

  • Step 1

    1.1.1 Powering on the system

    Using the small touch screen, start the system by touching the flag for your language. In a room with special capabilities for hybrid teaching, you will be asked what type of teaching you want to provide Then choose the “Online/ Hybrid Teaching” button, otherwise the camera will not be available

  • Step 2

    1.1.2. Teacher login

    Use the PC to log in with the instructor’s Solis ID.

  • Step 3

    1.1.3. Start the Meeting

    Open Teams and start the meeting. This meeting can be pre-planned in the calendar or created now with “Meet now” in the “Calendar” tab. Make sure the microphone and camera are enabled.

  • Step 4

    1.1.4. Camera

    Turn the camera, if possible using the buttons on the touch screen, toward the lecturer. This way the instructor is visible in room 2. Do not forget to turn on the camera in Teams.

  • Step 5

    1.1.5. Invite student

    Next, invite the student present in Room 2. At the top of the Teams window, choose “People” or “Persons” and type the name of the student in the other room. Wait for the student to join the meeting.

  • Step 6

    1.1.6. Presentation (optional).

    Open e.g. PowerPoint, start the presentation and make sure it is visible on the projection screen in the room. In Teams, select “Share” or “Sharing” and choose the window of your presentation.

  • Step 7

    1.1.7. Attach

    Click the three dots next to the student’s name in the lower left corner of the camera image from the other room. Then select the ‘Pin for me’ or ‘Pin for me’ option to make the students’ image (in room 2) large.

  • Room 2 – Watching Room

  • Step 8

    2.2.1 Powering on the system

    Using the small touch screen Start the system by touching the flag for your language In a room with special capabilities for hybrid teaching, you will be asked what type of teaching you want to provide Then choose the “Online/ Hybrid Teaching” button, otherwise the camera will not be available

    2.2.2. Student login

    Use the PC to log in with the Solis ID of a student present in this room.

  • Step 10

    2.2.3. Participate Teams-meeting

    Start Teams and participate in the Teams-meeting started by the instructor. Turn on the camera and make sure that the microphone in this room is muted, so as not to unnecessarily disturb the other room.

  • Step 11

    2.2.4 Camera

    Turn the camera, if possible using the buttons on the touch screen, toward the room. This way the students are visible in the room with the instructor. Do not forget to turn on the camera in Teams.

  • Step 12

    2.2.5 Pinning

    Click on the three dots to the left below the image from the other room. Then select the ‘Pin for me’ or ‘Pin for me’ option to make the teacher’s image (in room 1) large.

  • Step 13

    2.2.6 Projecting

    On the touch screen, choose the option to project the PC on which the Teams meeting is located.
