Two-factor-authentication: Recovery code retrieval

You need the recovery code when you no longer have access to your current two-factor authentication because of a new or defective smartphone. This is especially useful if you want to reset your 2FA yourself as quickly as possible because the ICT service desk is less accessible or closed during the weekend and evening hours. With the recovery code you can reset your two-factor authentication yourself. You can find your two-factor authentication (2FA) recovery code by logging on to mysolisid.uu.nl. To retrieve the recovery code, you need an active and working 2FA (NetIQ, Authenticator, or YubiKey).

Step 1

Here you have to choose the option ‘Two-factor authentication’.  Next, choose ‘Settings’ where you will be prompted to log in with your 2FA.

Step 2

Once you’ve done this, a ‘Show’ option will appear, allowing you to display your recovery code.

  • Write down and store the recovery code in a safe place, such as a password manager.
