Eduroam on macOS
This manual describes how to connect your Mac to the wireless network eduroam.
There are several versions of macOS. In this manual, macOS version 10.9 (Mavericks) is used as an example. Screenshots may differ in this manual if you are using a different version.
We recommend that students, staff and guests with a solis-id to connect to the “Utrecht University” wifi network so that they can directly access the various services offered through the UU network. For example, you won’t be able to connect to the printers (Canon) when using eduroam. Click here for the MacOS manual.

Step 1
Make sure you are in range of the wireless network eduroam. This is in most Utrecht University buildings.

Step 2
Click on the Wi-Fi icon (AirPort) at the top right of the screen and select “eduroam”.

Step 3
At Username, enter your University email address.
Example: j.a.smith@students.uu.nl or j.a.smith@uu.nl
Enter your Solis-password at “Password”.
Check the box “Remember this network”.
After this, click on “Connect”.

It is possible you need to select a security protocol for eduroam, if this is the case please select WPA2-Enterprise

Click on “Continue” if you get this certificate notification.

Possibly, you’ll have to conform the new settings by entering your laptop’s local administrator username and password.
Don’t know these credentials? Ask the administrator of the laptop for advice.
Click on “Update Settings”.

Step 6
Wi-Fi (eduroam) is now configured on your device.

If you have an older version of the macOS operating system (e.g. Snow Leopard and Mountain Lion), you may experience connection problems. In this case, update your Mac to the latest version available.
